Top Tips
Whether watching your team away or on your own trip looking to visit another team from around the globe, there are lots of differences from country to country on how they watch and enjoy football. Below are a list of tips and advice when visiting some of the best venues across the UK, Europe and further afield.

On the day -
Arrive at the stadium early
Get there early! Some stadiums restrict access around the stadium blocking roads or sometimes neighbourhoods restrcting you from getting to the area / gate you need to enter in. Aim for around 2 hours before kick off time.

On the day -
Essential items
Whether in the away end or going to the home ends of a new stadium. Bring your passport for identification purposes and only bring a backpack size maximum as most stadiums will not have storage areas. Another tip is to always print your tickets on a paper version, dont rely on an email confirmation.

On the day -
Prepare your documents and plan your exit
One of the best tips are to book your local transport tickets before the game especially metro / rail including the way back. Games can be incredibly busy after the game and some stations will put you at the back of the line or in some cases, not allow you to pay after the game at all.
If your game is a late / night fixture, always check that your transport option is still operating at that time i.e. Metro doesnt stop running at a certain time.

Planning / Booking -
Check the schedule
Most European games over a weekend will have fixtures from Friday night to Monday night so games can be moved to suit TV schedules and midweek fixtures throughout that time period. Things to look out for:
1) Official kick off times may not be confirmed till up to a few weeks prior to arrival
2) A number of European leagues have more fixtures on a Sunday rather than Saturday in the UK.
3) If you check the schedule and all games in that major league are at the same time, its likely the time has not been confirmed and will be subject to time (Except last game of the season)
4) Major sides are likely to be night fixtures to televise and will be on different days to their title rivals.

Planning / Booking -
Sourcing tickets
In most cases, direct is best not only for availability but for pricing and all you need to do is create a profile. This way you can guarantee the authenticity however some clubs or leagues can be exceptionally hard to get (Bundesliga is a good example where you may need to source elsewhere).
Ticket releases directly with the club well as schedules can sometimes only be released up to 4 days before kick off. On average its around 2-4 weeks rather than being to buy months in advance.
3rd party suppliers are also a really alternative for peace of mind but you must always look for a ticket guarantee policy, instant confirmation or refund policy. You will be paying above face value.

Planning / Booking -
Dont just go for value
Dont always go for the cheapest tickets as these will likely be in the hardcore fan sections (ultras) at either end of the stadium. Tickets on the longer sides (near halfway line) will be the safer & calmest areas for those who are unsure or inexperienced and tend to be designed for the executive seats / guests. For best balance, choose long side tickets closer to the traditional home end. In some rare instances, be prepared for someone to be in your seat as in some stadiums people enter their area but sit where they like.
